How to Prepare for a Shoot
Please note the keyword here is “prepare.” You meticulously designed a beautiful space that took months or even years to come together. And now it's time to show the world! But, hold up. We need one more special ingredient: styling. Just like each little detail of the design was carefully planned, styling deserves proper attention as well. Don't worry. Stephanie makes it as simple as 1, 2, 3 for us.
Step 1: Art direction
Ask these questions: What is the goal of this project? What is the message? Who is my target audience? We are always telling a story, so what is the story? Communicate this to your stylist and photographer.
Step 2: Visualize
Make a mood/concept board (for the whole project or for each space) that includes snapshots of the areas to be photographed along with accessories and florals that you envision. This will ensure the overall message is cohesive.
Step 3: Organize
Make a list of everything that you need to bring to shoot day. Print concept boards. It will help your team stay organize on shoot day.
